?May, 12 2020 – Staff Sergeant Amit Ben Yigal, 21, of Ramat Gan, was attacked and killed while on a mission to arrest members of a terror cell in the northern West Bank village of Ya’bad.
Staff Sergeant Amit Ben Yigal (21), of the elite Golani Reconnaissance Battalion, was killed in the early hours of the morning (Tuesday, 12 May 2020) during an operation to detain terror suspects in the Palestinian village of Ya'bad in the northern West Bank. He was struck by a rock hurled from a building after the roundup had been completed.
After being treated by military medics at the scene, Ben Yigal was evacuated by helicopter to Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center’s intensive care unit, where he succumbed to his wounds. He is the first IDF soldier casualty of 2020.
A resident of Ramat Gan, Ben Yigal, is survived by his parents and two step-sisters from his mother’s side. His funeral will take place this evening (Tuesday) at the Beer Yaakov cemetery.
